بیانیه و توضیحات درباره نمایشگاه مرز
The Second Step:
We have always been faced with a strong desire to historicize ceramics as functional objects. Meanwhile, we have also witnessed the artistic estimation of artistic media, as a regular matter, by institutions.
We can rightfully claim that there no regular matter in art world to be free from change. Therefore, we have challenged the role of ceramic in here and so did its current condition. As a result, this medium has been treated in a different way.
Hence, Ceramic-Based Exhibitions change regular matters and expand current borders in order to offer a new definition for the art of ceramics. These exhibitions started with the aim of considering ceramic features not only as a material, but as an efficient medium in transferring the concept of artworks. What matters here is the application of logics, factors and concepts coming out of techniques, history and ceramics in everyday life. Therefore, artists can participate in the exhibition with different media such as painting, sculpture, photo and video.
Aud Academy of Visual Arts held Border Exhibition in summer 2017 after Breakable as the second phase of Ceramic-Based Exhibitions. This exhibition is of considerable importance, because with regard to the diversity and variety of concepts and artists, the only common point in the works is the conceptual use of ceramic material in different ways.
The exhibition was held in two sections:
1- Collection
This part was done with the cooperation of curators from Iran, U.S. and Japan. Curators in this section had chosen a theme related to the title of the exhibition. Beside selecting and managing, they were responsible for directing the installation of works in a separate gallery
- Iran
- Four curators (Rojhane Hosseini, Behdad Lahouti, Neda Razavipour, Zarvan Roubakhshan) in the the Iranian Artists Froum (Mumayez, Mirmiran, Zemestan and Paeiz Galleries), July 22nd to August 5th, 2017.
- U.S.
- Curator, Sara Benichou, and consultation of Raheleh Filsoofi at Bailey Contemporary Arts Gallery (Florida), September 1st to 29th, 2017.
- Japan
- Curator, Hiroko Miura, at Fujiki Gallery (Shigaragi), August 1st to 20th, 2017.
2- Calling for works
With a contemporary attitude and a definite title, this exhibition devoted itself to the concept of borders. The presence or absence of these borders may bring about satisfaction or dissatisfaction. Such borders lead the contemporary art to personal priorities in art. Meanwhile, exhibitions support more limited groups by art directors, curators and institutions. Therefore, art callings sounded trivial, but as we adopted a critical approach, it seemed necessary to have a section for calls. This matter would provide us with a wide diversity of artists' opinions.
By selecting skilled masters and researchers in the field of visual arts, the policy council of the Border exhibition considers the call section important from two points.
In this section 19 works were selected in two steps by the jury from among 133. The jury members are Helia Darabi, Omid Ghajarian, Siamak Delzendeh, Combiz Moussavi-Aghdam. The works were displayed in the Iranian Artists Froum, the Zemestan Gallery.
